An update for our community on COVID-19

Proactive measures & continued ways to enjoy our wines —

(Updated: 24 June, 2020 at 11:00 a.m.) At Benjamin Bridge, there is nothing more important to us than the health and well-being of our friends, family, colleagues, and customers. Due to continuous developments regarding COVID-19 and the serious risks to vulnerable people (whom we have within our own circle), we have taken steps to do what we can to protect our community. We will maintain the highest standard of excellence in all that we do, including in our sanitization and hygiene practices; and we will keep this page up to date to reflect any changes.

On Friday, March 13, 2020 we announced steps we have taken to minimize risk as a socially responsible business:

  • Closure of the winery to the public and all non-essential business.
  • Enhanced cleaning, sanitization, and hygiene practices with increased accessibility to hand sanitizer, disinfectant wipes within our buildings.
  • An at-home work policy except for a select few team members to conduct essential business.
  • Essential business will be conducted following strict policies of social distancing of at least 2 metres, wearing PPE, differing work schedules, sanitization requirements & more.
  • Any BB team member who is helping fulfill essential business, such as wine orders, has volunteered to adhere to the strictest policies in their personal lives as well.
  • All employees will follow the public health authorities’ guidance regarding hygiene.

With these measures in place, we are able to offer continued ways to enjoy our wines:

  • Free shipping on orders of $50 or more in Canada.
  • Continued free and contactless delivery options in the Halifax Metro & Wolfville areas.
  • Contactless “drive thru” pick up option for those able to travel to the winery.
  • On retail shelves, where our partners have adopted their own measures to protect the public and their staff.
  • Our hospitality program entered tiered reopening of our retail wine shop, open-air terrace for by-the-glass service, and tastings by appointment, in early June. Please click here to read more on our health & safety practices when visiting the winery.

We’ve always been so thankful that our wines – especially Nova 7 – are about celebration and connection to community at their root. In this spirit, we launched a campaign through the NSLC system to donate 10% of our sales of Nova 7 bottles and cans to three local hospital foundations on a bi-weekly basis from March 30 to June 7. At the close of this period, we donated $50,100 divided among three foundations. See more details here.

Benjamin Bridge has been a lifelong project of elevating Nova Scotia’s profile, carving out jobs that nourish healthy lives and soils, and creating slow, positive change in our own neighbourhood. We will remain active and engaged online, so please continue to share your wine stories with us as we strive to stay more connected than ever.

Our entire team is eager to use this unexpected time to plan for a safe and vibrant season for guests visiting our newly renovated building and patios this summer – a vibrancy to match the beautiful wines crafted from the new vintages, now available to peruse on our online shop.
