Vēro

Head Winemaker: Jean-Benoit Deslauriers

2013-Vero

Within the Benjamin Bridge portfolio of wines, Vēro stands as our classic, elegant, dry white. Derived from the Latin word for truth, Vēro ‘speaks the truth’ of our land. It displays the most celebrated elements of our region’s viticulture – inviting citrus aromatics, brightness, and a striking minerality capture Nova Scotia’s quintessential terroir.

Our 2017 Vēro is a unique blend of primarily vinifera varieties, featuring our very first crop of high-density organic Riesling and Sauvignon Blanc. These vines were planted in 2015 by our head viticulturist, Scott Savoy, on our new land parcel immediately adjacent to the original vineyard in the Gaspereau Valley. Scott asserted that high density – a novel practice at the time in Nova Scotia – would support increased vine health as well as grape quality, and we are now witnessing the great results. In addition, the unprecedented warmth of October has added textural richness and generosity. With a wonderful appeal in its infancy, this softer 2017 vintage still promises to age beautifully.

As a true re ection of place, it is no coincidence that this wine pairs beautifully with freshly caught seafood, such as Nova Scotia lobster or scallops.

Tasting Notes, 2017 Vēro

“In the glass, a rich gold with a straw hue. On the nose, hints of acacia honey, hibiscus and beeswax are brightened by underlying notes of lemon zest. The palate is crisp and vibrant, with juicy mango and mandarin. A refreshing and versatile wine that will pair perfectly with our local seafood.”
